Mary Jo Scandin, a Wisconsin native, has been creating with fibers for decades. Her work is a celebration of color, pattern and design. She works in batik, hand felted wool and painted silk incorporated on canvas with acrylics and mixed media.
Mary Jo and her husband maintained a studio/gallery called Serendipity in Door County for 19 years. She has illustrated three children’s books, as well as illustrating notecards and posters. She also enjoys teaching batik yearly at Sievers School of Fiber Arts on Washington Island.
Currently working from a studio in her home in Appleton, Wisconsin, Mary Jo shows her work in galleries in Door County, Hudson, and Appleton.
Her work represents a sense of design and whimsy.
